From 150 meters
to 15 millimeters
In Förenade Bil's historical archive, the diligent work of many generations is documented. Here, a hundred years of automotive history are contained on shelf meters of brochures, accounting records, photo negatives, books, advertising leaflets, newspaper clippings, photographs, documents, ad clippings, motor magazines, films, press clippings, letters, drawings, slide films, minutes, and much more. The painstaking efforts of thousands of employees over a century to keep Sweden rolling are represented in this archival material, which occupies about 150 shelf meters. From this rich treasure, we have chosen to publish 15 millimeters, which is the measure, i.e., the thickness of the 256-page layout in this book. Making a selection has obviously not been a simple task.
An example is when one finds an old black-and-white photograph of two motor men conversing next to a car. One was born in 1900, the other in 1906. Both gentlemen have dedicated their lives to keeping people on the move. One is named Allan Söderström and the other is Soichiro Honda. Such a
photograph earns its place in the book.
